Testronic, Efilm's Scott get HPA Award
Testronic Labs and colorist Steven J. Scott of Efilm are the recipients of the Hollywood Post Alliance's 2011 HPA Judges Award for Creativity and Innovation in Post Production."The Creativity and Innovation Award was created to identify and honor outstanding contributions from individuals and organizations from within our post-production community," said HPA prexy Leon Silverman. "The HPA takes pride in recognizing Efilm's Steven Scott for his role in the creative expression of Terrence Malick's 'Tree of Life' and to Testronic for their File Based Laboratory."The Award recognizes companies and individuals that have demonstrated excellence in post-production, whether in creative storytelling and/or technical innovation. It may be awarded (but not limited) to a unique creative project or other type of content, a workflow, proprietary technical development, hardware or software toolset or a creative approach. "I'm so happy to accept this award for a film I believe in and love so much," said Scott, Efilm's creative director, "but it was (d.p.) Emmanuel 'Chivo' Lubezki, Terrence Malick and (vfx artist) Dan Glass whose creative needs helped pioneer this innovative use of the DI. I'd also like to acknowledge EFILM's incredible Imaging Science and Engineering teams, who have made this creative workflow possible.""Receiving the Creativity and Innovation Award is recognition of the highest order, in our opinion, and extremely meaningful to us at Testronic Labs," said CEO Seth Hallen. "The key implementation team of the File Based Lab at Testronic, led by Adam Lesh, has put their best and most creative thought into creating a process that was of actual value and service to our industry during a time of rapid change." The 2011 Awards will be given at the HPA Awards ceremony on November 10 during a gala evening at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles.
